Born and raised in South Vietnam, Chan had a passion for designing at a young age. She recalls gathering seashells and spending hours handcrafting one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry.<\/em><\/p>\n

Following University, Chan knew she had to follow her passion of becoming a fashion designer and moved to Los Angeles to realize her dream. In 1996, Chan established her brand under her namesake with a vision of quality design inspired by cultures from around the world. Chan believed that the uniqueness and authenticity of her designs could only be conveyed by having skilled artisans completely handcraft each collection.<\/em><\/p>\n

Nearly 20 years later, Chan has not only inspired new fashion trends but has expanded her collections to include detailed jewelry for women and men, cashmere blend scarves, and a complete line of ready-to-wear.<\/em><\/p>\n

Describe your company in a few words.\u00a0 What style need does it fill?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Handcrafted, eclectic, timeless. Jewelry is such a powerfully symbolic statement, and a truly cherished piece gains meaning over time. Beloved pieces gets handed down and invested with new history. I\u2019d like to think our jewelry gives the wearer an opportunity to create that meaning.<\/em><\/p>\n

Describe your personal ‘go to’ style.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m a firm believer in slow fashion \u2013 it\u2019s always about quality over quantity. I work a lot, so my go-to look is simple: a good pair of vintage Levi\u2019s with a hand knit sweater, a cashmere scarf and statement earrings (from Chan Luu of course!).<\/em><\/p>\n

As a female\u00a0founded business, how do you interpret the\u00a0Vionic\u00a0Secret: \u2018Style. It doesn\u2019t have to hurt\u2019?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

When you\u2019re comfortable in your own clothes, it has a profound effect on your mood and the way you interact with the world. But comfortable doesn\u2019t necessarily mean sloppy. It\u2019s great to see so much women\u2019s fashion being made that is both easy-to-wear and chic.<\/em><\/p>\n

What\u2019s empowering about a confident woman?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I love to see a woman who is independent-minded, who can be both strong and vulnerable at the same time. I\u2019m very lucky to be surrounded by such women in my personal and professional life \u2013 it\u2019s incredibly inspiring.<\/em><\/p>\n

What\u2019s your secret to feeling your best?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I feel my best when I\u2019m actively working towards a goal and while making subtle changes in my life for the better. A sense of feeling accomplished always makes me feel good. Also, a healthy dose of sunshine and a couple hours on the tennis court each week doesn\u2019t hurt either!<\/em><\/p>\n
