Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we are pleased to partner with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® and the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium Foundation (PNOC), established by Vionic Co-Founder Bruce Campbell and his wife Allyn, to raise much-needed funds for childhood cancer research.

A diagnosis of childhood cancer is devastating for all members of a family. Brain cancer, now the leading cause of cancer-related death among children, remains vastly underfunded. Research dollars are critical to treating this disease and finding a cure. The promising news is that outcomes are improving, however, there’s much progress to be made — dependent on funds to support the research.

PNOC Foundation - Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium Foundation

PNOC Foundation was established in 2013 by Vionic Co-Founder Bruce Campbell and his wife Allyn to support the work of PNOC. In 2010, their son George started experiencing morning headaches and nausea. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor, an ependymoma, the size of a small orange, located on the right side of his brain. George underwent 10 hours of surgery and 31 sessions of subsequent radiation therapy. Twelve years after his diagnosis, George and his family cherish their time together and fully enjoy the opportunities life has given them. They know they’re blessed and pledge to make a difference in the lives of other children and their families affected by brain tumors by raising awareness and funds for research and clinical trials.

St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Our purpose is clear: Finding cures. Saving children.®

Each year, approximately 16,000 children and teens in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer. St. Jude, with support of generous donors, has helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent when we first opened our doors to more than 80 percent today—but our work is not done. One in five of these children won’t survive. Together, we won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.
