Plantar fasciitis plagues the Pros

Just recently, we’ve heard more and more about professional athletes dealing with injuries related to the foot. From achilles tendonitis to plantar fasciitis – it’s debilitating. And for an athlete who’s career depends on his or her foot health, it can be a real pain.

Among those who have suffered from severe heel pain are Joakim Noah, Joe Johnson and Angels’ player Albert Pujols.

Pujols talks about his plantar fasciitis pain in the video clip below.

As for the injured NBA players… “Plantar fasciitis sucks,” says Bulls center Joakim Noah, who lost games and Defensive Player of the Year votes to the injury during the regular season and is desperate not to lose winning opportunities to it now. (read more here.)

What exactly IS plantar fasciitis anyway? (We DO happen to be experts on this subject, considering the fact we’re a shoe company built from innovative podiatrist-designed technology.)

Here’s how we’ll break it down for you:

If your foot pronates too much, the ankle rolls too far downward and inward with each step. This can cause the arch to collapse and muscles and supporting structures to overstretch and lengthen. The ligaments running from the heel to the toes become strained, often leading to inflammation along the bottom of the foot. This inflammation and heel pain is known as Plantar Fasciitis.

And to the athletes suffering from foot pain, we truly wish you well! If we can get you into our shoes to help provide you with relief, we will!
