Training for a race of any kind is both physical and mental. In those “mind over matter” moments, it’s important to have a game plan that keeps you moving forward! Here are 3 mental strategies to practice when the going gets tough: 

 

Remember your ‘why’ 

-What got you started in the first place? What keeps you motivated to keep going? Who are you doing this for? 

 

Create a meaningful mantra

-”I can and I will”, “Mind over matter”, find a mantra that speaks to you, and you can repeat to yourself when you want to quit. 

 

Visualize the finish line

-Imagine yourself accomplishing your goals. How does that moment feel? Visualization is a powerful tool to place you in the moment you are working towards.
