The sun is out, temperatures are high, the days are long. Summer is here, and it is time to enjoy it to its fullest. To allow this to occur, it is important that you take care of yourself, putting effort into staying healthy and ready to take on any activity. Here are some styles that we think you will love this season, along with some tips to keep cool and protected.

Here are some sun protection tips from the CDC1:
-Shade: Use shade whenever possible, consider an umbrella or standing under a tree or shelter to cool down and limit exposure
-Clothing: Consider clothing that can protect against UV rays. Some clothing even meets UV protection standards. Long sleeves, long skirts and pants offer some protection, along with materials that are more tightly woven
-Hats: Like other clothing, tightly woven materials offer more protection. Hats that have a brim all around can help protect not only your face, but ears and neck
-Sunglasses: Sunglasses are very important in protecting your eyes from the UV rays, reducing the risk of cataracts, and the skin around the eye
-Sunscreen: Use broad spectrum sunscreen that is at least SPF 15. SPF is a measure of how well sunscreen filters UV rays, the higher the number the more protection. It is important to remember that sunscreen needs to be reapplied after 2 hours and after sweating or swimming.
Some tips for staying cool from the National Center for Environmental Health2:
-Stay in air-conditioned locations for as much time as possible
-Drink a lot of fluids, even when you feel you don’t need to
-Be thoughtful about scheduling outside activities
-Take cool showers
-Check in with friends or neighbors
-Don’t leave kids or pets in cars
